Poppy Seed Pods

The California poppies have all gone to seed.

The seed pods are filled with one of my favorite bagel accoutrements.

Somehow I was surprised by finding the miniscule black seeds inside.

Surprised all the more so by how the vents at the top of the pod acts as a dispenser when upended and shaken.
