The devil in disguise!

It may seem as if the devil has appeared in my fish tank, but it's only a bottom view of a harmless specimen of Beaufortia kweichowensis, otherwise known as the Chinese hillstream loach, the Hong Kong pleco, the butterfly hillstream loach or the Chinese sucker fish. This is why we have scientific names!

Strange fish, a lot more attractive as seen from above - they can be striped or spotted. Mine spend their days clamped to the the side of the tank, where they harvest the algae which grows naturally on the glass. My two specimens were an early Christmas present.
