It's astronomical and it's one of the most famous sights of the city. On the hour it chimes and the twelve disciples parade as death (the skeleton) chimes a bell. It tells the time, traces the movements of sun, moon and stars, shows sunrise and sunset and tracks the movement of sun and moon through the houses of the zodiac. Not that it makes any sense to me at all! As it finishes chiming a trumpeter plays from the top of the tower and then moves to play from the other three sides as well. cool!
