Has To Be Done

MfG (Mother-f***ing Grüßen),

MfG is actually short for "Mit freundlichen Grüßen" which is a standard ending to formal correspondence and means "Kind regards".  But way back at the start of my time in Germany I puzzled over MfG and because I didn't know I decided it was a Denglish thing and so it became, in my mind, "Motherf*****g Grüßen". 

It still makes me smile when I read it in E-Mails.

My day can best be summed up by the wait for my bus home. 

I got into town and looked at the Laser Display Board* - and it read "Peter's Bus is due in 3 minutes."  This is a commonly told lie in Wiesbaden.  What it really means is "We don't know when Peter's bus is due".  I waited and watched as buses due in 5 minutes arrived and left on time  and my bus stayed on the board as "Due in 3 minutes. No really.  It is." 

And so some 15 minutes later my bus arrived....

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that when I am 30 seconds late, then my bus is punctual to the very second - "Like it always is, Peter".  But if I am on time, or even a minute early, my bus is late by X minutes.  Where X is a number between something and anything.  ALWAYS.

The extra is my attempt to travel through time.
