Yesterday a friend asked, "'Drive a stake into the ground' means throw meat on the ground, right?"
I laughed and hesitated...ummm...then I saw the connection and laughed even harder. Finally I explained that we have the word steak and stake in English. They sound the same but have different meanings. I feel for my Thai friends who are learning English, it really isn't an easy language to learn well.
