Ambush!

Dear Diary,

Let's face it.  Rudy doesn't play well with Gaylord.  It really is the cheeky Rudy that kicks up the most fuss whenever Gaylord approaches the back porch.  They have been known to get into quite a tussle at times with Rudy flipping in the air in a very comical defensive maneuver!  This morning, Rudy took cover under the seed bowls to lay in wait as Gaylord hopped over from the tree.  Gaylord got quite a shock when Rudy popped out chattering to beat the band!

My little ones never fail to amuse me each day but Rudy secretly lying in wait to ambush Gaylord is a new twist in the continuing saga of the back porch I must say.  A while later, Rosamond, Rudy's partner in crime, joined him and that was one red squirrel too many for poor Gaylord.  But don't feel too sorry for the gentle grey one, he was back a bit later after the dynamic red duo left!  I will say, he kept his back to the wall as he ate, just in case!  (Extra photograph)
