Close to home . . .

We did get a walk in today and the camera came too.  One entrance to the Dellside Reserve is about 5 houses away from us.  The reserve stretches across the Richmond hills.  There are extensive walking trails and a wide variety of trees have been planted.  A little paradise for a blipper and a forester.  At the end of our walk as we were coming back to the houses and a weka walked out onto the grass.  A lady walking her dog said she had seen a pair of them with chicks.  A weka is a flightless bird about the size of a chicken.  They have brown feathers.  Another first for us.
