Actually this heron wasn't running at all but strolling around leisurely as if I wasn't standing only 10 feet away........I've never known one to be so blasé about my presence :-)
And his amusing hairdo was a result of him having a good preen and scratch right in front of me before finally taking flight........blip sorted :-)
