alone on the hill
day after day
alone on the hill
the man with the bike (it’s hidden round the back)
is keeping perfectly still
Campbell Park, Milton Keynes. A short walk today, as I appear to have some sort of bug. As does my computer.
The early years of computer ownership:
It’s slow, frequently crashes and takes ages to load the few programmes that are available. But we sit patiently and marvel at the wonder of it all.
If there is a problem, we can often solve it with a screwdriver and a soldering iron. Or know someone who can.
The middle years of computer ownership:
It’s fast, there are thousands of programmes all operating seamlessly behind the screen and we never give it a second thought.
The latter years of computer ownership:
It’s slow, frequently crashes and the zillions of programmes no longer get along with each other. We shout and bawl and tear out what hair we have left.
The screwdriver and soldering iron are long gone. As is the knowledge that went with them. The casing is now sleek and seamless, denying entry to all, except an alien life source yet to be discovered on some distant planet.
