Art House

To the best of my knowledge this is the only example of art nouveau on Skopelos. It is situated by the harbour at Loutraki, which is the Port of Glossa. I love this building, though I have never seen inside, it has been closed up the entire time I have known about it. The sign above the door tells us that it is for sale and below that is a German phone number. Because it has been up for sale since long before any global financial crisis, let alone the Greek one, I can only assume that the vendor is asking way too much for it.
I think it could make a lovely bed and breakfast cum cafe. The paved forecourt is the property of the Port Police and so one would have to pay them rent if one wanted to put tables and chairs out front. There is a small street running along the back of the building so there is no garden attached, though there is a patch of open space behind the small street. I don't know if it forms part of the same property. It is so pretty but so limited. I fear for it. I don't think anyone is maintaining it. It would be such a sad loss.
