American Kestrel

When I got up this morning there was a text from my sister-in-law letting me know there was a small herd of elk grazing near their house.  By the time I got organized and drove over there, they were nowhere in sight.  It's not the first time they've been spotted in that area so I hope I'll get another chance.  When I was driving back I spotted this beautiful Kestrel perched on the power line in perfect light.  I pulled over just ahead of it but I was afraid if I got out it would fly.  So this shot was taken through the open window from the comfort of my warm car.  Of course, having the window open did cool it off a bit.  :-)
