Forgotten Times

A rare example of a Working Men's Club?
When I first arrived in the English Midlands, back in the 1980s, there were many examples of Working Men's Clubs.  You didn't even have to be "working" to be a member - they even accepted me as a poor student (once I was nominated, seconded and voted in).  However, you did need to be a man - women couldn't join. Despite this sexism, they did serve very cheap beer!
Things have progressed, even if the beer is still cheap (but, notice no women in this shot!).  According the the web:
These days the club aims to provide a bridge of common interest and meaningful interchange between different age, race, ability and economic groups and different cultures in our area and to provide an opportunity for people to engage in community activity.
