Recovering

Last night Arthur ate a piece of lego. I nearly managed to get it out of his mouth and actually managed to hook my finger behind the piece in his mouth. Regrettably, he still swallowed it and following a call to the vet, we were advised to take him down so that they could make him sick to bring it up. Unfortunately this didn't work and we were then left with the options of general anaesthetic and using a scope to try to get it or opening him up. He had a 50/50 chance of the scope working and avoiding surgery but our insurance did not cover the cost of both. I made the decision to try the scope and hope it worked and if not he would have to go straight into surgery. We received a call about an hour later to say that they had been successful and that the vet had retrieved a yellow door. Phew! So no opening him up and no £2500 bill for us. He had to stay over night to be monitored after the general anaesthetic but he was otherwise OK.
The photo shows him this morning when he got home, still feeling a bit sorry for himself.
