Above the Bernina pass
An early start and -11 degrees outside the house. I turned up at the meeting point for the local mountaineering club with skis but no skins. Some kind gentleman stopped by his house to lend me a spare pair. No more excuses for dipping out, there I was skinning up a mountain again, something I haven't done for the last 12 years or so. Exhilarated and apprehensive all at the same time, it was a magical day to be in the high mountains and better still to return safely. 300m of ascent and lots of tips and training exercises, ideal for a first trip back out.
The extra is of our high point, some of the group and a very happy MalcolmsEye.
