Old Parish Church
Seeing as it's a Sunday I thought I'd Blip one of Oban's many churches.
I walked down to the town along Ardconnel Terrace, Taylor's Brae and down Star Brae, and through the churchyard of the old Parish Church on the corner of Glencruitten Road. From the picture it could almost be an old country church, though the extra picture shows otherwise! I crossed the road to meet Mrs M at the new Lidl supermarket opposite.
It may be because I'm still clogged up with a cold and feeling less than enthusiastic, but there seemed to be even more rubbish about than usual. It was a bit depressing to walk along Taylor's Brae with its views over the town and harbour to the mountains of Mull and see the rubbish that inconsiderate residents have strewn along the way, or in the case of drinks cans, balanced on top of the wall. Star Brae was the same, so was Soroba Road and even the churchyard had its share of bottles and carry-out containers, as did the doctors' surgery car park.
What do we do? Pick it all up, report it, moan about it or just ignore it? There are street sweepers in Oban, but they seem to be restricted to the tourist areas. There are days when I think that Oban is such a dirty town, but it's probably no worse than many others.
OK, rant over, time for lunch!
