Waking Up the Geese

Eugene, Oregon is in the Canada geese migration route.
On my early morning bicycle ride this morning I found several hundred Canada geese shoulder to shoulder.
They had parked for the night on a small rainwater pond in a field by the side of the road.
I coasted to a stop and tiptoed closer.
The geese nearest to me began to stir, but the rest were oblivious to me, heads tucked behind a wing.
I got a nice photo and one wet foot; a good trade, I think!
