Smokin'

As we got towards close of play it was still grey and gloomy. "Have we got any joss sticks?" I asked. We did so I got out the tripod, the flash unit, the off camera lead and the black board, after all how hard can it be?

An hour later i was ready to chuck the SB800 out the window, I don't know if it's the flash unit, a dodgy ebay lead or my failure to understand the principles of strobism but one way or another it wasn't working! Lady Marian said, "I'll hold the torch, you look through the viewfinder". We found a position where the torch shone on the smoke and not the board. I snapped a few dozen shots and picked the one I liked best. 

It's funny how you see so many pictures in smoke trails.
