As gorgeous as the male Northern Cardinals are with their brilliant red color, I do think the females are prettier.  The cardinals are frequent visitors to our backyard feeders and love to land and survey all the goings-on from the Japanese lantern.  And now that there are a couple of new feeders, it is quite a busy scene to survey.   Delightful to watch it all from the deck or the kitchen.
