Waiting....

We are, apparently, coming to the end of this long run of dry and often clear and cold weather which has made the autumn colours even more spectacular than usual, and much more persistent.

Leaves do not last forever of course and on most trees there are just the last withered remains waiting for the first real gale to blow them away.
