Diary of an Edinburgher

Surprise visitor

Gosh these winter days are short (says she who often rises after midday), but it'll soon be the shortest day.

Archie and I had a play in the back garden. Here he is in front of one of the apple trees, which has supplied several cakes and plenty of chutney. But he is not allowed to go near it - except for photos - he'd eat them all and be sick. Not sure he's even noticed them.

We had a little hairy visitor to the bird table today (extra). I got a hopeless shot because of the reflections in the double glazing, which I tried to remove. Archie did not see it - those eyebrows are very handy sometimes.

Archie had a new borrower come to visit him. She was impressed with his tricks, of course. She is studying history, and just has an exam later this month, so can't spend all her time working. What to do? Take a dog out for a walk! She's coming on Monday.

Anne came round for a pizza tea and a marathon three episodes of The Crown. We finished it. It was excellent. Wonder if the Royals watch it...
