Green Street Cemetery

TheAphid had his grade 4 piano exam today which meant a drive into town. We didn't meet much traffic at all so arrived early enabling us to park further away so we could get a bit of walk in. The exam went well so we sauntered back through Howard Davis Park and Green Street Cemetery, with me looking for any blip opportunities.

It's an old cemetery hidden away behind a multi-storey carpark and our new police station. It was was opened in April 1827, after the St Helier Town Churchyard became full in the 1820s. It has such a peaceful atmosphere with lots of birds singing and hopping about, you certainly wouldn't think it was near a busy main road and roundabout. This evening I popped up to the parish hall to help pack the parish magazines in enveloppes and have a bit of a gossip. I'd been invited by a neighbour who is involved with parish activities. It was a fun 35 minutes, especially when I realised I was one of the youngest people there!!!
