Miss Holly the greyhound

This is our new "guest" from the Dogs Trust - and she's called Holly!  We only have her until tomorrow morning when she's going off to live with her new family.

We got a call from the Dogs Trust on Wednesday afternoon asking if we'd be able to have her for three nights because her enclosure was in their old block which has no heating and it was freezing.  Of course we said yes and made a mad dash from lunch with friends in deepest Wiltshire up to Evesham to collect her.

She is a sweet girl but very nervous and we now realise that she has probably never been in a house before!  Everything has been sniffed and checked out and she jumps when the TV comes on, or when doors open and close etc.  Bless her!  We presume she was once a racing greyhound who is no longer needed to race.

I took this photo when she got back from her check up with the Dogs Trust vet this morning which they always give dogs who are going to be re-homed and which she passed with flying colours.  She then decided she didn't want to get out of the van!  As you can see it's nice and comfy but I think she felt it's probably safer place for her there than inside our house.  Maybe it's more like where she has been living for the past five years or so as a racing greyhound.  Anyway, fingers crossed that all goes well with her new family and she'll live out the rest of her (hopefully) long life in comfort.  She did get out of the van eventually as it was time for her lunch!!
