Caring

There appear to be a few issues with bullying and general unkindness going on at Leo's school. He says that people are just not being kind to each other and he doesn't like school anymore as lots of people are upset with each other and the whole school is getting in to trouble as they try and tackle it :(

Today they were all asked to think about each other and write something to illustrate how each person demonstrates caring and kind behaviour. Then each child was able to take home their bit of paper with their classmates comments on it. I guess it is aimed at getting them thinking about how nice it is to be kind towards each other. Hope it does the trick as the class just doesn't seem as happy as in previous years. I don't know if it is an age thing and they'll ride it out or whether this particular combo of kids is not a good one. Previously all Leo's classes have been split across age groups so years 1/2 or2/3 etc. and this year is the first time they have been a single year group - so all year 5's together (9/10 year olds). I don't know if that is why they are having a rough time - perhaps they are all finding their feet at the same time and it is not working well? Hope it all settles down soon so they all have a much happier time.

In happier news, Elvis has returned and that definitely put a smile on Leo's face, especially when he discovered Elvis doing his best cactus impression.

It was a freezing foggy old day in Cully/Exeter which made for rather hairy commutes to and from work. And even worse was the fact I had to de-ice before setting out this morning, and then again when I left work to head home!

I have the day off tomorrow so if it is another frosty old day I needn't worry as can just plod about locally. Hopefully it will start warming up as we head into the weekend, especially as touchline duties await. I may take a hot water bottle to cuddle if it stays frosty!
