A long day - 43.75 miles on the bike to be exact.
Out and onto Union Street for 8; and then a long mazy run down the left wing (top of Leith, out to Bingham - uuugh!; a cuppa with Baz and onwards and downwards to Craigmillar and Moredun.)
A decent day; cool and sunny. The highlight of the morning was a quick dive into Aldi. I heard an elderly couple behind me. She says 'do you fancy a mince round, dear?'
Sadly he did not take her up on the offer and start prancing about, hand on hip, uttering camp comments.
Anyway; I trekked ever westward; visited two pubs side by side in the name of work (seriously...!) and onwards onwards to Balerno.
The advantage is the run back down the Lanark Road; with a tail wind it was marvellous; 35mph without trying too hard. Then a long drag up to Drumbrae, another sharp descent (physically and spiritually) to Granton before a final trio in Stockbridge. The last one - scheduled for 1730 called me to say he would be half an hour late; he'd left his keys at work. So there I was like the start of the day in a nice neighbourhood about to impart good news, stood about in the dark.
Then to hers; I cooked - well smoked salmon on tattie scones (blinis are so hyyge, don't you think?) and then she produced a curry in a codeine addled state; it tasted marvellous - maybe that was the codeine?
And then home. I think. Well, that's where I woke up the next morning...
