Russian Mist

We rarely get frosty conditions in November but with a strong high pressure sat on top of Wales we have actually had to scrape the windscreen on the car this morning.
One interesting effect from this early  frosts is called, Russian Mist. The sea is still relatively warm and when the cold air settles on it the effect is quite dramatic. The sea appears to boil and release this low steam like effect and the breeze then causes it to move across the surface of the Bay. Why its called a Russian Mist I have no idea so we asked the local fishermen ,they will answer any question if you encourage them with some liquid refreshment,  but even they could not agree on a collective answer so I gave up before it cost me a packet.
