First day of summer

It has been great to have a lovely fine day for the first day of summer.  It certainly wasn't hot, but it was warm and fine - and that's what matters.

I took a drive up to the top of our hill tonight, and took this photo overlooking our wee township.  It was very peacefull and pretty.  The next door neighbour has cut some of this paddocks for baleage, and you can see the lines if you look close enough.

The road has been busy again today.  I counted a row of 22 vehicles when trying to leave the carpark at work at lunchtime.  I just sat and waited.....and that's all you can do with the amount of traffic going through our town due to State Highway 1 along the East Coast being 'munted' due to the earthquakes.  At least we have doubled our population of traffic officers in Murchison.  It's nice to know they are patrolling our roads.
