Meals on Wheels

Today has been a very spring like day, with times when it was pouring with rain, and then becoming fine and the sun out. It poured overnight, which means we had a fair bit of mud to contend with when feeding out to the calving cows. It is quite heavy going walking/running in mud, especially with your wet weather gear on, and then getting your gumboots stuck in the mud. Not fun.

It was fine when we went to feed the calves late this afternoon, in fact the sun was out. Today was the first day that these calves were fed with the 'Meals on Wheels' trolley, and I was surprised at how quickly they adjusted from feeding off the milk bars to the trolley.

Calves usually 'swish' their tails from side to side when they are happy, and you can see these wee darlings doing this as they are drinking.

For those following the adventures of our wee bull Bradley, he is the second calf on the left. Unfortunately, you can only see his rear end!
