Chrysalis……………..
..........................& Skin
It’s not usual for the skin of the caterpillar to cling to the chrysalis so I have another photo to add to my tagged collection of the Monarch Butterfly Cycle.
For those interested in seeing photo of the various stages click on the tag below.
For protection from the paper wasps, these caterpillars are in a special ‘caterpillar castle’ which is made from a fine net with a zip closure on one side.
Update - for some reason this is sharper when it is seen in large!
Thank you for the many stars, comments and hearts for my last blip. The tiny buds are from a dahlia plant and they were catching the first of the morning light to reach this garden. The sun needs to be high in the sky to reach the lower levels of this garden, which makes it possible to capture the dark background.
