Intense Blipping

Portland's Rose Garden. Late August. Everybody has a camera.

Short slide show of more rose photographers here. I have a special fondness for the gang who are facing the "wrong" direction--unless they wanted a silhouette shot.

Photographers. Are we hunters? gatherers? opportunists? Are we manufacturers of images? Are post-processing tricks dishonest, inauthentic, artistic, or merely playful? Why are some pictures predictable, tiresome, or mediocre and others memorable? What makes a picture edgy? Are we looking for images that reflect what's going on in us? Are we using our digital cameras as our own external memory, guarding against our collective fear of dementia? What do we plan to DO with all these images? What use are they? Interesting article (with pictures) addresses some of these questions here. Thanks to my pal Devorah for sending me the link.
