Tree Root Village

Across the street from us a family have spent many an hour, with lots of love and dedication, creating a magical miniature world called 'Tree Root Village' set within the roots of a big oak.

It's a surreal and enchanting little place that draws you in with its figurines and toys, shiny bobs and ends, succulents and all. These things have been carefully placed into different 'scenes' made possible by the shapes of the tree roots themselves and of course the imaginations of their skilled and playful creators - the more you look the more you see!

This shot in no way captures just how detailed it is or indeed the sheer scale of this endearing project. Our lo-fi camera isn't up to all that much when it comes to close-ups but this is maybe one of those things in life that must be seen by the naked eye to be appreciated fully, in all its barmy glory!
