Layers & Layers
Late afternoon view out the office window.
Every day this week has seen beautiful light early in the morning and then in the evening.
It probably won't happen tomorrow, which is fine as I'm in a meeting until 5 and then it'll be dark. The meeting should be fun - I have to give a presentation to a department of 60 people. 60 people I don't know. I quite like doing things like that. It'll be a nice test of my Deutsch as well.
I've been rehearsing for most of today and have been told that I shouldn't say CNTL as in Kintle, but I should spell it Say-Enn-Tay-Ell. It's just one of those cultural differences.
I discovered another rone of those when I wanted to say we need a volunteer to demonstrate what I've built. A Volunteer is ein Freiwilliger (or eine Freiwillige if it's a woman). But there is no equivalent of guinea-pig here. There is ein Meerschweinchen (a small sea pig) but that only refers to the animal and nothing else. if I stood up and asked for ein Meerschweinchen, all I'd get is (more) odd looks.
We live and learn.
