Full immersion
It had indeed been a wild and stormy night as our band of robbers hid away in our tents. There were a few soggy bottoms due to osmosis and sheer bloody volume of rainfall, but there was a dryer in the washroom to save the day. And then the sun came out. Glorious. We were near Cemaes in North Angelsey. The tide was high and we dangled for crabs while mv made trip to Bangor for new tyres. He was back in time for lunch at The Stag and as we emerged, the sun had too. Joey had a gambol in the surf, I had a swim in the murky and chilly influx from the feeder river, the boys got up to their waists and then hopped out. Softies.
A walk over the promontary was truly wonderful, fuschias and daisies above the cliffs, blue sky over the Irish Sea, old mine workings and St Patrick's church leaving their mark on the coastline, with the distant power station and the hum of the windmills reminding us of the need to keep this place working and breathing.
The advance party left, AKHF, Little Agu and myself remained to release the crab line from the rocks at the bottom of the quay now the tide was well out (a shock to Mediterranean dwellers) and as tea was brewed and mv's well selected barbecue dinner was assembled, the sun sank below the horizon and reflected in the car windows. The duvet had dried after careful placing on top of the tent and had been hidden to warm in the car. The boys found it for a game of crash test dummies and a little face appeared through the window. Not a double exposure, but a full immersion in North Wales at it's best.
