Another in the Great War memorials

There's been quite a few new wreaths around Bearsted in recent weeks, this is the latest we've spotted at Roundwell, hung on the village pump. The memorial is to Horace Chapman of the 8th (Service) Battalion, Kings Own (Royal Lancashire Regiment) killed on 13th November 1916 age 23.

The village pump was set on an old well in 1800 and was, until 1926, the only public water suply in this part of Bearsted. Amazing what you don't spot when walking around your local area and somewhere you've passed many times before.

We'd been to the Bearsted Farmers Market on the Green earlier, quite a small gathering this time, bought a few apples and some celeriac to try. In the afternoon we took Doreen to Chartwell, the home of Sir Winston Churchill, for a Christmas market. Lots of goodies to taste and a few purchases made for presents.
