Times Of My Life

Holy Smoke, St. Andrew!

We have had a lovely day.  In preparation for St. Andrews's Day on 30th November, the council had arranged a celebration in the centre of the City of Perth.  Dougie McLean was playing, and the Red Hot Chilly Pipers.  There were street stalls selling local whisky, mead, cheese, baked goods, and these delicious Smokies.

The stall holder was doing a roaring trade, lifting pairs of cooked fish from their rack, stacking them in a huge barrel which was filled with smouldering charcoal, then pouring water over them to cause great gouts of smoke to appear.  At which point he covered them over with rugs, to keep the smoke in.  We got a pair to take to Mum, who does love an Arbroath Smokie.
Being the passenger today, I was able to sample some of the lovely alcohol on sale, and promptly poured Glenturret whisky into my big mug of hot chocolate, which certainly warmed both my hands and the rest of me as we strolled round all the other stalls.

Later we went shopping for a new (used) car; we are quite taken with the Volvo V40 D2 or the Volvo V40 Cross Country - anyone got any comments on these?  Never had a Volvo  before.

Now home, chicken roasting in the oven, just going to have a wee look at the Sunday Papers before Strictly - The Results comes on.

Such a shame it is Monday tomorrow :-(
