Radish
Just a random blip today... Since I worked all day, there's not really anything exciting to report.
I ate a couple of the radishes in my parents' refrigerator the other night and it got me thinking. When I was a little kid, radishes and green peppers were pretty much the only two raw vegetables that I would eat. Even today, I will eat radishes and green peppers more than any other vegetable on a relish tray. I like the taste of green peppers and radishes are okay, but at the same time, they don't taste all that good, so it doesn't really make sense why I've always liked them.
After staring at the leftover radishes in their Rubbermaid container, I thought about how nice they look. I've always thought that radishes were among the prettiest and most unique. They are almost sexy in the way they are so small, smooth, and round, with a vibrant red exterior and a pure, white inside, which you can see when the stem and the tip are removed. I think it is this same aesthetic that has me eating them again and again, when I'm really not all that fond of their taste.
It's amazing what aesthetics can do.
