Lapwings.
This small pond was formed by all the rain we had recently, and it seems to have been taken over by Lapwings. They nest in meadows and marshes in summer.
In winter they gather in flocks, and move to warmer areas such as South- West England.
I hope they are not gathering all ready. Is it a sign that we are in for some more bad weather?
