Z factor

For the lady on the left, the day was NOT going to improve significantly over the next excruciating 20 (however many, I wasn't hanging around) minutes. It was like X Factor for the Vocally Challenged. You could almost hear the cringes of the folks who were (not) gathering round in a circle.
