Church of St. Bernardus

R.K. Church; nave and west tower built in 1841. Clocks chair  with clock F. A. Gaulard, 1838, diam. 60 cm.
The church is located on the north side of the long road through the village, the east and the south side adjacent to the Bernardus Square. Between church and square is the cemetery.

Type

The Bernard Church is originally (1841) built a church with a western tower. In 1924 a transept are built on a choir. In 1924 a transept are built on a choir.

Building history

The church dates from 1841, when Ubachsberg became a separate parish. Until then Ubachsberg fell under the parish of St. Lawrence in Voerendaal. The Church of Voerendaal is moreover rebuilt at the same time. In 1924 the church was extended with a transept and a choir by architect Beursgens Sittard.

Exterior

The church is partly built of red brick, partly from kunradersteen, coming from the nearby quarries Kunrader. This stone is often rough cut, not like marl smooth cut. The church bernardus processed blocks of unequal size, five sides are cut, while church with transepts. The vault is bent spire, windows have round arches. The vocals stand is separated by three arches of the ship. The sanctuary is hemisphere. The church has a number of stained-glass windows from different periods. The windows in the nave dating from 1894, which were manufactured windows in the transepts of 1980 in studio Flos, probably to a design by the glazier Father Victor.

Organ

In 1887 by Gebr.Müller (Reifferscheid, D) placed in this church organ moved around 1985 to the depot of the organ builder Reijnen (Roermond) !! The latter set a new two-manual organ (with partly older pipes) in 1987. Sixth side (front) crude harvest.
