Little notions

The things we do when we get an idea in our heads.....

I decided it had been a long time since I've made mince pies. Whilst I had the domestic frame of mind on i remembered the chocolate "top hats" my Nana used to make at christmas (marshmallows in sunk into chocolate in little cp cases). And also chocolate truffles - probably haven't made them since I was at school!

So off to the shops I went, Chavda ;-) had no jars of mincemeat, no dessicated coconut, no marshmallows.

I still had the notion in my head so after watching some tv i went out again - the joys of 24 hour shops - tescos this time. Success - got the mincemeat and the coconut. No marshmallows though, 2 empty boxes on the shelf. i'll have to continue the hunt tomorrow....

I prefer puff pastry mince pies, which is why I can't follow the worktop savers recipe for pastry and had to go for ready rolled. (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)
