Master Knotts
An excellent short wander from Fox's Pulpit afforded, as I'd hoped, fantastic views across the Howgills. As ever the cloud shadows danced enticing patterns and the distant panorama gave a visually eloquent hint of the geological ancestry of these ancient Silurian hills - the rounded level mass of their distinctive shape paying tribute to the backbone of hard grit rock that has refused to be bowed by the passing of time, unlike their younger carboniferous neighbours.
Pooch and I walked, ran and sat in the sun a goodly while - I'm quietly confident the hills didn't even notice us mere fleeting things.
