Flags

I was in Brussels again today.

I am always struck by the flags that fly from balconies and rooftops around the Berlaymont.

They indicate the vast range of nations and states which regard being here, clustered round the EU, as advantageous - indeed essential.

Outside the Belrlaymont itself the flags of the 28 member nations of the EU fly together at the heart of the city and the continent.

Scotland is keen to move its flag in towards that centre. However the UK seems determined to lower its standard and go the other way.
