Snapshots of my world

Flash flooding!

The rain has poured and poured and poured and poured and poured...and continues to pour, relentlessly. I did not expect my commute home to take me two hours, when it usually takes half an hour or there abouts. However, it's no surprise given the roads were more like rivers and at one point the road had turned into a lake so was shut off! I then turned to go back where I'd been, alerted a few of the cars queuing in the direction I had been going they might as well save themselves the bother and turn round, and found the bottom of the hill the other way was also closed due to flooding!! I managed to negotiate another route home, windscreen wipers on full and eyes on stalks as I marvelled at the scenes. I have NEVER seen anything quite like it, drains blocked with water squirting out and pavements turned into wild running streams...and of course the roads.

I hope everyone is safe, I do worry about Hebden Bridge...I was just grateful to be in a warm car as I made my way home and I'm now very grateful for a cosy cottage safe from the howling winds and driving rain.
