Was doing a modification to this ancient power supply, to upgrade and replace the aged mains flex, plus improve the safety earthing of it. I'd previously failed it on a visual safety check (portable appliance test). Also discovered a distinctly overheated resistor, that, whilst still operational, I thought it best to replace. The frazzled looking one (R8) is visible above.
Don't know the exact age of this equipment, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was first bought in the early 1970's... I think we've had our moneys worth out of it! We have a LOT of ancient stuff...
I missed yesterday's Blip. Was listening to the radio, and as a program finished, I realised there were only a few seconds to go before midnight. Grab a camera; switch on; minor adjustment twiddle; and fire at something! I was about two seconds too late. Oh well, I've spared you a photo of my washed dishes on the sink drainer. That's three missed Blips now, and two of them over the last month, unless I can find the photo I took on the the 14th of June.
