Picton Castle

The countdown to Christmas has started as this weekend was the annual 2 day Picton Castle Christmas Craft Fair. We attend every year and this Sunday I was amazed at the numbers attending and the number of craft stalls that greeted them.
Picton Castle is a medieval fortress that was originally built in the 13th century ,been remodelled several times and has been the home of the Phillips family  since the early 15th century.
Today the Castle is managed by the Picton Castle Trust and is open to the public as a major tourist attraction ,although the family still occupy a large part of the house. The large grounds have a walled garden , a mediterranean garden and extensive woodland areas with a  large Nos of Rhodedendrum which look spectacular in the spring. The public areas of the Castle are used for many purposes including concerts, exhibitions and weddings.
