A Black Cat Morning: old memories and new

Dear Diary,

I am always the first to get up when I stay at the summer home of my cousin on Black Cat Island in New Hampshire.  It is a wonderful sight from her deck with the mist rising on the lake and the the promise of another beautiful day dawning.  The peace and tranquility here is heavenly.  It was a nice brief get away for me.  There is always great conversation and card games and I got to see their photographs from their trip earlier this month to Botswana in Africa to photograph the amazing wildlife there.  Photography and travel are in our blood!

I also photographed a painting I did for her mother, my dear auntie, which now hangs in a guest room where I stayed.  I made it while I was living with her in 1978 and 1979, while I was studying at Harvard.  Painting was something we shared.  I miss her so much but just looking at this painting brings great memories flooding back.

We made some new memories yesterday with an early Thanksgiving dinner at another cousins house on the lake.  I hope we can make it an annual affair.  We will all go our separate ways today but we will pack up the memories to take with us.  We never have a shortage of those!
