Lots of fun at Falstone

Today was the Border Shepherds' Annual Show at Falstone, Kielder and I went for the day. It's a very traditional local show with no commercialisation and all the more fun for that.

The early morning rain persisted longer than forecast and the field was soon very clarty. Most people very sensibly wore wellies or boots. There were pony races, sheep dog trials, a dog show, children's races (sack race and egg and spoon included) and a fell run. It was all a bit bewildering for an American couple who needed a bit of help understanding what was going on. Did I mention the beer tent and the cake stall?

Very hard to know what to blip and I've chosen one small section of the dressed sticks in the industrial tent. What skill.
