Oh I do like to be beside the seaside

Except it wasn't beside the sea. It was a man made beach next to a lake not too far from us and it was brilliant.
We made an early start this morning as the forecasters were predicting 36 degrees and they weren't wrong. We paddled, swam, played bat and ball, built sandcastles, went on the inflatable obstacle course in the water, picnicked and then visited the vast playgrounds for all different ages.
I was obsessed with sun cream, hats, shade and fluids for everyone so it seems a bit ridiculous that I'm disappointed that I haven't caught any sun!
