Hard disk

This is what is inside a hard disk. This one - 3 TB of it - died on me a couple of weeks ago, and as a result I've invested in a new backup system.  I do like taking them apart once they are dead, to see the shiny platters and the delicate mechanism.    The problem with this seemed to be that the head mechanism had crashed.  I didn't lose any photos - I still had the original copies on an internal disk in the computer.
