Children In Need
Those of you in Britain will know what this is about, but for those of you further afield, it's a week of fund raising for all manner of services/clubs/help/support for children who need it for all sorts of reasons.
If you're not moved by the stories that the kids tell of how it is in their little world you have no heart.
The kids on the right hand side of the pics all have different challenges and have been selected to do this years Rickshaw Challenge. They spend a week taking it in turns to cycle 50-70 miles a day. This year they're tackling the east of the country, from the Scottish Borders down to London.
On the left is the story of a charity run by the two young women in the top picture, for young carers. Children as young as 5yrs old finding themselves in the position as carer for their parents, sacrificing their childhood because they have no other choice.
A building was given to the charity and a BBC programme that deals with renovating houses for those in need, took on the project. They always put out a call for helpers in all sorts of trades and people tend to turn up in droves. A few of them can be seen in the bottom left picture after the building had been transformed.
There are lots of events going on around the country and the week culminates in an evening of various performances tomorrow night, shown on the telly. I tend to cry every night listening to the stories of the kids. Must add tissues to the shopping list.
