My parents' house, the house I grew up in, is getting an energy-preserving makeover. They got new, triple-glazed windows, a new heating system which uses wood pellets, solar panels on the roof, the roof got insulated, and now the whole building is being covered in 20cm thick insulating styrofoam before they re-plaster and paint it next week.
I really like that they make the effort to reduce their carbon footprint - and, even though it's quite a big investment, the initial cost of putting all these things into place will pay off soon!
